Port Talbot Motor Club is pleased to return the Red Dragon Rally toward the top echelons of British and Welsh rallying. Due to the ongoing difficulties in the MSA reaching agreement with NRW over continued forest usage in Wales it has not been possible to use NRW forests, and thus PTMC has been left with no option than to confine the rally to financially viable roads within Walters Motorsport Complex. We sought the views - via Colin Heppenstall - of the MSA BHRC competitors as to their view on that option, and are pleased that a majority supported the running of the rally in that enforced format, as did the other Championships that included it in their 2016 series. Port Talbot MC is greatly appreciative of that support, that will thus allow the event to provide competition that otherwise may have been lost. The past successful years, and careful management of the motor club, in addition to the appreciated input of Sponsors that include Nick Bradbury Motorsport and Racing Photography for this and previous PTMC events in the most recent years, has allowed PTMC to keep the Red Dragon alive in leaner years, to roar more loudly again as it certainly will in the future, not least thanks to competitors support in addition to others. For 2016 the event is still included in the prestigious Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship and in addition, the Jelf Motorsport Welsh Clubman’s Forest Rally Championship; the Restruct Ltd Welsh Mixed Surface Rally Championship; and the MDMC ~ FMP Rally Challenge, and we heartily welcome Competitors in every series to what we are sure will - despite the difficult circumstances forest rallying in Wales faces - be a worthy inclusion in the championships. PTMC will do all in its power to make that the case.
The Red Dragon Rally will run five stages totalling approx 35 stage miles and will of necessity be based solely in the Walters Motorsport complex in the Vale of Neath. This will give the best value for money we can provide for competitors and we on the organising team, look forward to seeing you all, as the Red Dragon continues the reputation forged since its days as a round of the famed 'Motoring News' Road Rally Championship and 'best event' in the BTRDA Forest Stage Rally Series in more recent times...With your help as Competitors we look to a brighter future for our sport in the forests of Wales,
Thank you for your invaluable support
