03rd/4th March - Gremlin Rally

A couple of club members will make the trip to Brecon tonight for round 2 of the WAMC Road Rally championship. Robert Wilson / Dylan Jenkins will start at car 5, Nigel Phillips will start at car 15 and Marc/Dale Clatworthy will start at car 23 in their rebuilt Nissan Micra. Good luck to them.

27th/28th February - Nightmare Rally / Club Autotest

A cracking result for Nigel Phillips last night in the lanes of Devon on the South Hams Motor Club's Nightmare Rally. 2nd O/All & 1st in class. The club Autotest series also kicks off in Abernant colliery grounds on Sunday.

Nigel Phillips / Tom Jefferis - 2nd O/All Nightmare Rally

20th/21st February - Bro Caron / Rali Cwm Gwendraeth / Smeartharpe Stages

A very tricky night awaited crews on the Rali Bro Caron on the weekend, with the weather again playing havoc for the crews. Nigel Phillips/Rob Richardson finished 31st O/All, after numerous off'as through hedges and a gate. Dale/Marc Clatworthy had a worse night, when they managed to roll the Micra! They still managed to finish 43rd O/All. The event was halted at the petrol halt, due to the weather getting worse. Mark Ellis was navigating in a 300bhp MkII Escort at Smeartharpe on Saturday. Although the car has the potential to win rallies, a couple of excursions meant that they finished 18th O/All, after hitting a wall, but managing to continue and repair the car. Phil Turner/Simon Anthony had a much better weekend than most! They managed to finish 5th O/All on the Cwm Gwendraeth rally held at Pembrey. A top 3 would have been on the cards had it not been for a problem with the turbo pipe.

13th February - Wyedean Forest Stages

3 PTMC crews tackled the classic Forest Of Dean stages on Saturday, with a very strong entry. Ian Godney/Ceri Simpson finished a very creditable 38th O/All & 11th in Grp N. Damian Thomas/Ian Jones finished 91st OAll and 7th in class after spnding some time in the local scenery! Micah Morris/Ioan Lewis had a short rally, breaking both driveshaft's on the 2nd stage on a tight hairpin.

30th January - Brean Stages

Phillip Turner will make the trip for th Brean Stages this weekend without regular co-driver Simon Anthony , due to work commitments. Lets hope that Phil has a little better luck in 2010 than 2009!

23rd/24th January - Carpetbagger

A cracking result for Nigel Phillips/Tom Jefferis in the Proton on the Carpetbagger, 10th O/All & 2nd in class. Well worh the trip to Dorset. Not such a good tme for Dai Jones/Jason Woolacott, who retire before the 1st Perol halt.

8th December - Xmas Stages - Pembrey

Phillp Turner/Simon Anthony had another non finish in the Subaru Impreza at a very icy Pembrey, with a crcked gearbox casing on stage 1. Lets hope they have more luck next year.

8th December - Teeside Autodrome - F1000 Juniors

Young Welsh rally driver Cameron Davies from Llandovery - at the age of 15 one of the youngest competitors at Port Talbot Motor Club, and now certainly the most successful for his age - has become the joint Formula 1000 British Junior Rally Champion of 2009. After six  rounds of the new championship held all around Britain, Cameron has the added distinction of being the only Junior to finish on the podium of every event.

He has had two wins, three seconds and one third while his main rival for the title - Ashleys Slights, aged 17 and from York -  had two wins, two seconds, one third and one sixth. With the best four rounds counting the two young drivers proved equal on points, and thus  have become Joint Champions.  This is the first year of competitive motorsport for Cameron and he is naturally looking forward to many more, to build on what has been a remarkable achievements in his first year of rallying. The championship – entitled  the Kick Energy Acceleration TV F1000 Junior Championship has attracted sixteen young drivers from around Britain, with many more joining for next year.  Cameron’s co-driver Gareth Yelland - also from Llandovery - who used to co-drive for Cameron’s father has become Joint Champion Co-driver making it double celebration for Team Cameron ! The championship is for Junior drivers and they must use cars with no more than 1000cc. Details can be found at www.formula1000.co.uk.  When not competing Cameron has been helping promoting motorsport to Juniors with gomotorsport.net at Silverstone this year,  and then with Formula 1000 at the Chatsworth Rally Show where he got a spin with World Rally Driver Mikko Hirvonen in a Ford Focus WRC Rally car. Next years championship will increase to nine rounds, with the best seven results to count and the victorious young man and his family run rally team are currently seeking additional support for 2010. If any readers can consider help with sponsorship (as his pocket money ran out a long time ago says his Dad !)  the team will be happy to discuss matters – they can be contacted on  07974 974555.

Cameron is also very appreciative of all the help and support received during 2009, would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has made his task of winning the important Championship that much easier, though easy was hardly the word for his hard fought rallying year. Such help did make it all possible however, and the young man has special thanks to his Dad and Grandpa, Tristan and Alistair Dodd and all at the F1000 Club, to his co-driver Gareth for managing the “office” at high speed, and the ‘twins’ Gareth and Clinker for their service crew efforts that kept the Nissan going through every rally,  Damian at D-MECH, Bridgend Garage and all at the Port Talbot Motor Club.

31st Nov/1st Dec - Farrington Rally / Hall Trophy, Blyton

Last weekend saw the running of the Farrington Rally, the final round of the WAMC Road Rally ch/ship, take place around the lanes of Ruthin, North Wales. A number of competitors made the trip from the club and came back with some good results. The weather made the rally a reak test for the competitors, with snow falling for most of the night! Glyn Price/Dylan Jenkins managed to finish in 9th O/All, but more importantly, Dylan taking 3rd O/All in the championship. Dale/Marc Clatworthy finished a cracking 25th O/All and 3rd in class, whilst Nigle Phillips/Dale Bowen failed to finish as Nigel felt ill during the event. Cameron Davies/Gareth Yelland had another cracking result on Sunday in Blyton on the Hall Trophy Stages. They managed to finish 2nd O/All in the juniors with the final round to some this weekend.

21st/22nd November - Carfax Longcross Stages / Mel Harries Road Rally

Another set of cracking results for the PTMC members competing on the weekend. Mark Ellis/Stuart Andrews finished 3rd O/All at Longross, after leading the event until the lunch break. They lost out a little when the torrential rain came down, sending them back to 3rd position by the finish. Dai John/Dylan Jenkins finished 3rd O/All and Dai Bowen/Michael Gilbey managed to finish 4th O/All on what has to be one of the wettest events ever! A boat would have suited the conditions better. It was nice to see a number of PTMC marshal's out on the event as well. Dai Jones/Phillip Hooper and Dale/Marc Clatworthy faile to finish the event.

15th November - Talbenny Winter Stages

A cracking win for Ian Godney/Justin Davies on Sunday on the Talbenny Winter Stages. Although the weather stayed dry for the duration of the rally, the conditions were very slippy and the 4wd of the Impreaz certainly helped with the result. Mike Wilcox managed to finish in 20th O/All, whilst Phillip Turner/Simon Anthony failed to make the start after the car went into limp home mode and stayed there!

Ian Godney / Justin Davies - 1st O/All Talbenny Winter Stages

7th November - Tempest Rally

Damian Thomas/Lee Saunders made the trip for the Tempest Forest Rally on the weekend, but were troubled with the car all day. They had a spin, followed by a stall a couple of overshoots a misfire and a slipping clutch, but still managed  to finish in 23rd O/All and 4th in class.

31st Oct/1st Nov - Cilwendeg Road Rally

Not a very good weekend for the PTMC crews on the Cilwendeg rally. Previous Cilwendeg winners Adrian Jones/Dylan Jenkins had high hopes when the rain looked to close in on the rally, but their event ended on the 1st section when the clutch pedal went to the floor after posting the 3rd fastest time on the 1st tight section of the rally. Nigel Phillips/Chris-Cooper Jones, although getting to the end of the tough route that was put on by TVMC, picked up a fail at PC23, which puts the crew out of contention. I did notice that Lyn Jenkins was around and was rumoured to be navigating in one of the course cars, possibly in preperation for the Motoring News boys return for the 50th running of the rally.

17th/18th October - Sarn Helen RR / Smeartharpe Stages

A cracking event was laid on by Lampeter & District MC for all 90 competitors, the Sarn Helen, which last run in 1988. Adrian Jones/Dylan Jenkins put a good fight on a dry night, not suited to the Subaru and brough the car home in 4th O/All and 3rd in the Master Class. Dale/Marc Clatworthy managed to get a run on the event after being 10th reserve and put in a very respectable result in the Micra, finishing 26th O/All & 3rd in the Semi-Expert class.     Mark Ellis/Andy Ballantyne put in another superb performance at Smeartharpe in the Subaru, losing out again to the more powerful cars. Still, a cracking result of 3rd O/All. Mark will have to wait a bit longer for that win.

10th October - Woodbridge Stages

Mark Ellis/Stuart Andrews had a cracking run on Saturday at MOD Woodbridge, Ipswich, Suffolk. The 10th round of the ACSMC championship, Mark was up to a stunning 2nd O/All for the duration of the day only for his tyres to go off on the last stage and lose the position by 1sec. Still, a very creditable 3rd O/All finish.

3rd/4th October - Peter Lloyd Stages / Breidden RR

A good weekend motorsport for PTMC members this weekend on both events. On the Peter Lloyd stages, based at Pembrey, Phillip Turner/Simon Anthony managed a very good 10th O/All & 5th in class in the Subaru, whilst Gwilym Owen/Paul Griffiths managed to finish 25th O/All and 4th in class, the event being Gwilyms first outing in the Sunbeam for a while. In the F1000 juniors rally, Cameron Davies/Gareth Yelland finished a very creditable 2nd O/All in the junior championship at Pembrey.

             Cameron Davies/Gareth Yelland 2nd O/All & Junior's.

A cracking set of results for PTMC members on round 10 of the WAMC RR Ch/ship. Glyn Price/Dylan Jenkins managed to stay out trouble on the treachorous lanes and whites around Welshpool and managed to bring home the winners trophy. Nigel Phillips/Carl Williamson also kept it fairly clean, even managing a couple of close encounters, but still managed to finish 7th O/All & 4th in the Master Class. Some good championship points bagged by both crews means that they should well be making the trip North for the final round, the Farrington rally.

                   Glyn Price/Dylan Jenkins - 1st O/All Breiddedn Road Rally

19th/20th September - Longcross Stages / Rali Mon

Some good results for PTMC members on the weekend.  Mark Ellis/Adrian Borwn had a cracking result with 3rd O/All, losing out to the more powerful cars at Longcross. Joseph Roche/Ceri Simpson were competing in the Peugeot 106 and managed to finish in 22nd place O/All.  Merfyn Hughes/Dylan Jenkins made the trip to Anglesey for the Rali Mon and managed to finish 3rd O/All on a very slippy nigh. John Williams/Chris -Cooper Jones finished the event in 19th O/All.

13th/14th September - Tour Of Flanders / Firefly Rally

Brian Davies/Neil James made the journey over the channel on the weekend to compete on the Tour Of Flanders. The rally did not go according to plan, with the PTMC crew retiring on stage 4 after breaking a steering arm after an uncharacteristic off!! Nigel Phillips/Rob Richardson made the trek to North Wales to compete on the Firefly road rally and managed to finish 13th O/All and 12th in class.

30th August - Mewla National Rally

Not a very good weekend on the ranges for PTMC members this weekend. The event was dogged by a number of accidents and a number of stages were lost. Brian Davies/Neil James finished 62nd O/All after some problems on the last stage in the Corolla. Phillip Turner/Simon Anthony suffered another retirement in the Impreza with a burst water hose. They may pick up the prize for most points for non finishes this year!

22nd/23rd August - Greenleaves Rally

A better night for some on last wekends Greenleaves rally, based at Baskerville Hall, Clyro. All crews were dogged by some resident at some point on the route. Robert Wilson/Dylan Jenkins managed to finish 20th O/All, Dale/Marc Clatworthy finished 28th O/All & 5th Semi, Nigel Phillips/Chris-Cooper Jones finished 1 position behind in 29th O/All and Dai Bowen/Andrew Richardson failed to finish after spending lots of time stuck behind a land rover on route!. Nice to a cracking turn out of PTMC members to help out with the running of the event, even if it was run after many members bed times! Our chairman even managed to stay up!

15th August - Neath Valley Stages

John Evans/Neil Featherstone had a short rally on the Neath Valley Stages, with an off road excursion ending their rally in a ditch on stage 2. Luckily, there was not much damage, but not enough spectators to get them back on the road, so they went OTL.

8th/9th August - Barcud Road Rally

Not a bad night's sport for Adrian Jones/Dylan Jenkins on Saturday night's Barcud Rally, based in Tregaron, Mid Wales. 3rd O/All and 1st in Class 1 in the Subaru Impreza on a very dry and dusty night. Nice to see the club's President, John Hughes at Petrol @ 2am, well past most people's bed times!!

1st/2nd August - Harry Flatters

Not a very successful event for PTMC members on the Harry Flatters Rally. Gwilym Owne did not make it out of the start with alternator failure! Brian Davies/Neil James retired on SS2 with electrical problems after hitting a boulder. Phil Turner/Simon Anthony retired after SS1 with driveshaft problems. Gavin Haycock retired from the event. Mike Jones finished 25th O/All in the modern event. Hu Kent managed to finish 7th in the classic section of the Historics. Unfortunately, a spectator, John Phillips was killed when a car veered off the road. Our deepest condolences go out to John's family at this tragic time.

25th July - Fat Albert Stages / 26th July - Coracle Stages

Marc Ellis/Ceri Simpson made the trip to Bath again in the Subaru Impreza to compete on the Fat Albert Stages and drove a faultless rally to finish in 3rd O/All & 1st in class behind the more powerful Impreza WRC & Mk1 escort. Anybody would think he prefers the English events to the Welsh ones! Damian Thomas/Ian Jones had a disaster of a rally at Sweet Lamb. The engine mount sheared on the 1st stage after a few hundred metres into the stage, only for the CV joint to break at the end of the stage. Early bath!

Mark Ellis/Ceri Simpson - Fat Albert Stages - Keevil.

18th July - Swansea Bay Rally

Only 2 PTMC crews made the start of the club's Swansea Bay Rally on Saturday. John Evans/Neil Featherstone in the Mk II escort & Dai Lloyd/Kate Grindley in the Peugeot 205. It was a very close battle all day, with both crews swapping the lead up until the final stage @ Walters, when John dug deep to take the club win and 2nd in class.

11th July - Azimghur Stages / 11th/12th July - Pacemaker

Mark Ellis/Mike Wilcox put in a good run on the Azimghur stages in Bath on the weekend with a solid 7th O/All and 1st in class in the Subaru Impreza. Not so fortunate were Phillip Turner/Simon Anthony, who broke yet another gearbox in the Subaru Impreza. Mark 'GT' Roberts/Dylan Jenkins put in a solid performance in the Golf GTI on the Pacemaker rally, finishing the event in 5th O/All, bagging some important championship points.

27th/28th June - PK Memorial / Three Counties Stages

A 100% finishing record for PTMC members on the weekend for a change. Nigel Phillips/Chris-Cooper Jones finished 19th O/All on the PK Memorial, to keep up their WAMC championship points. Mark Ellis/Ceri Simpson put up a strong challenge against the more powerful escorts on the Three Counties stages based at Smeartharpe arifield in Devon. They finished in 6th O/All and 1st in class.

1000 Lanes Road Rally / Caerwent Rally

Some good results for the various PTMC members out this weekend. The best result on the 1000 lanes came from the old campaigner Nigel Phillps/Chris Cooper Jones, who took 5th O/all and some good championship pointa. Robert Wilson/Dylan Jenkins missed out on a 3rd O/All result, with the infamous RC 14! They ended the rally 10th O/All. A very good result for Novices Dale/Marc Clatworthy, finishing the event 16th O/All and 2nd in class. 2nd in class also went to Richard James/Jonathan Sargeant. Cameron Davies /Gareth Yelland put in a stunnning drive in Caerwent to win the Junior F1000 event and finish 44th O/All. Phillip Turner/Simon Anthony blwe another gearbox and retired. James Ball/Gavin Haycock also retired.

Gremlin Road Rally - 6th/7th June

Some good results for the PTMC crews out on the Gremlin Road Rally on the weekend, round 4 of the WAMC road rally championship. Robert Wilson/Dylan Jenkins retired just after the Petrol halt, whilst in 4th O/All, after the gearbox failed. Nigel Phillips/Matthew Maidenment coming home with the best result for PTMC with a creditable 5th O/All. Dai Bowen/Andrew Richardson finished 11th O/all, after running as high as 6th O/All after the jogularity. Erwyn Davies/Steven Birdwood finished 2nd in the Novice class & 18th O/All.

Severn Valley Stages / Welsh Marches Epynt Stages

Damian Thomas/Ian Jones managed to finish 22nd O/All and 2nd in class on the Severn Valley Clubman Stages, even after picking up a puncture on the Radnor stage. Dai Bowen/Andrew Richardson were leading the 1600cc class up until the penultimate stage when they suffered a blow out. A hard charge on the final stage regained them a place to finish 2nd in class on a very hot and sunny day on Epynt. Christian Howells/Simon Anthony had an early bath when they lost fuel pressure on the first stage.

Dai Bowen / Andrew Richardson in action on the Welsh Marches Stages - Epynt.

Epynt Hill Climb - 24/05/09

Steve Griggs in action on the Epynt hill climb in his Nova.

TSH Stages - RAF Portreath

Mark Ellis/Andy Ballantyne had a short event last weekend in the Subaru Impreza. They were 3rd O/All going into the 2nd days action, when the gearbox decided enough was enough and retirement beckoned.

Manx Rally / Ellisport Longcross Stages / Mayflower Rally

Another cracking weekend of results for PTMC members again last weekend. Brian Davies/Neil James finished 47th O/All and 3rd in class on the Manx rally. Mark Ellis/Ceri Simpson finished a brilliant 2nd O/All on the event that Mark sponsored. (Must have had the route in advance!). Nigel Phillips/Carl Williamson had another brilliant result finishing 2nd O/All on the Mayflower Rally in Devon after losing out on a 1st O/All on a tie break. (Must have been Nigel's age!).

Welsh Rally / Border 100 Rally

A clean sweep of finishes was had by competing PTMC members on the weekend. This must be a first! Phillip Turner/Simon Anthony finished 24th O/All and 3rd in class, whilst Brian Davies/Lisa Evans finished 1 position behind and 4th in class on the Welsh rally on Epynt. Glyn Price/Dylan Jenkins finished 10th O/All on the Border 100, a split hose causing the crew a certain 3rd O/All.

Somerset Stages / Night Owl Rally

Dai Lloyd/Kate Grindley failed to finish the Somerset stages, whilst Gareth Bevan/Gavin Haycock managed to finish in 95th O/All and 8th in Class. Adrian Jones/Dylan Jenkins managed to finish 2nd O/All and bagged some good points for the WAMC ch/ship, whilst Dai Bowen/Andrew Richardson were going well with 10th O/All at Petrol, only to lose out with some confusion at a time control costing them a good result and pushing them back to 20th O/All.

Rali Bro Teifi / Talbenny Stages

A very challenging event was put on for the competitors in the 2nd round of the WAMC road rally championship this weekend. The format of the event was farm tracks during the day/evening followed by a 90mile night rally. Adrian Jones/Dylan Jenkins were leading at the end of the farm tracks secition, but eventually finished 6th O/All. Dai Bowen/Andrew Richardson finished 19th O/All after numerous problems with the lights on the Peugeot. Nigel Phillips/Chris Cooper Jones retires the Proton after the exhaust gave way quite early in the event. Dave Jones/Phil Hooper managed to finish 45th O/All in the Skoda and new club members Dale & Marc Clatworthy managed to finish 1 place behind in 46th O/All in the little Nissan Micra. Caerwent Stages / Rally Elli / Bulldog Rally

Not a very good weekend to be competing under the PTMC banner! Phil Turner/Simon Anthony failed to finish at Caerwent. Manfred Kampschulte/Dylan Jenkins were leading the Rally Elli throughout the day at Pembrey only for the brake caliper to shear off on the night section. Damian Thomas made the trek to Mid Wales for the Bulldog Rally, only to retire as well!

West Cork Rally / Bovington Stages

Brian Davies/Clare Shorten made the trip over the water for the West Cork Rally. Gear selection problems hindered Brian all weekend and he managed to finish in 83rd position. Mark Ellis/Mike Willcox made the trip to Bournemouth and managed to finish 17th O/All and 7th in class 5 on the recent Bovington Stages.

Rally Bro Caron / Tour Of Epynt - 21st/22nd February

Some good results from the PTMC crews tackling the Bro Caron on Saturday night. Nigel Phillips/Carl Williamson put in a strong performance to finish 16th O/All & Dai Bowen/Andrew Richardson finished just 2 places behind in 18th O/All, on what was a very strong entry on the 1st round of the Welsh Championship. Geraint Mayes/Dylan Jenkins retired after dmaging the suspension on the MG ZR after an off just 5miles into the event.

Phil Turner/Simon Anthony managed to get 36th O/All on what was a stunning entry to the Fix Auto Tour Of Epynt. Brian Davies/Kath Curzon retired after the shock absorber broke on SS4.

A big thank you must go to all the club members that turned out to make the event the success that it was. Well done. A big thank you must also go to all other clubs, marshals, Dr's, medics, rescue, recovery etc etc for making the event a success. and also our new event sponsor, Huw Williams of Fix Auto Swansea. Thank you.

Rali Cwm Gwendraeth - 8th Feb

Phil Turner/Simon Anthony made the trip to Pembrey on Sunday for their first rally of the season. Unfortunately, they failed to finish the event, after going off on the 3rd corner of the rally! Oops.

Wyedean Forest Rally - 7th Feb / PTMC Club Dinner

Ian Godney/Mark Ellis made the trip to the snowy Wye valley for the Wyedean rally. The trechorous stages made for an interesting day, with nearly all panels coming back with some form of dent! They managed to finish 86th O/All.

A fabulous night was had by all in the Glyn Clydach on Saturday night for the annual dinner/dance. A big thank you to Margaret Stoneman for organising yet another succesfull evenings entertainment.

Carpetbagger Road Rally - 24th/25th Jan

John Davies/Dylan Jenkins made the long trip to Charmouth, Devon to compete on the recent Carpetbagger rally. A terrible nights weather made the going very tough on all competitors and a demanding 200 mile route laid in wait! John/Dylan finished 2nd o/all, which would have been better had the Nav had his head on!

Production Car Autotest - 25th Jan

The event was again held at the old Blaenant Colliery. Thank you for the assistance from Mr Allun James, Mr Emyr John and the Cefn Coed Museum, without whom, the event would not run. 15 entries were received, 6 were novices that did the first Production Car Autotest and 5 were novices attempting their first Production Car Autotest.

The weather was very kind yet again. A tricky but flowing course had been set out, each competitor had eight runs to try and achieve their fastest time. After four hours of fun the results were calculated and the winner of the event was young Cameron Davies, just 14 years old. The average age of the four trophy winners is 17 years old.

Thanks again to the young organising team (Except Dai!), who rose again to the challenge of putting on this event. Thanks must also go to all of the marshal's who helped out once again to run this event.
